One who pursues the path of the martial artist seeks not only to master the craft of self-defense, but
also to develop certain virtues of habit or good conduct.
These include self-discipline, patience, courtesy, courage, perseverance, trust, modesty, non-violence,
self-confidence, honesty, loyalty, honor, unselfishness, patriotism.
These virtues enable the martial
artist to become whole in mind, body and spirit, giving him or her, the capacity to control fear and
anger, to rise up to all challenges, to live in peace with others and have good health and control of
weight.
